Would You Like to Mentor a Child … Outside?

Outdoor-Adventure-Club

Hello outdoor lovers, there are a few children in need of your help.

Help them learn to love playing outside.

We need a few outdoor-loving people to serve as “bigs,” or volunteer mentors, for the new Outdoor Adventure Club.

The Outdoor Adventure Club provides 12 months of outdoor activities for under-served youth ages 11-13. With one-on-one mentoring we can eliminate the barriers to the outdoors for youth regardless of a family’s financial situation, fostering engagement with nature, stewardship, and community. This program is a partnership with Roanoke Parks and Recreation and made possible by grants from Keen and The North Face.

All transportation, instruction, and appropriate gear is provided at no cost to the participants, thereby eliminating all barriers to the outdoors for underrepresented and low-income youth.

We’ve got the participants and the funding; now we need the mentors! Activities start in September, so we need you to apply now if you are interested in mentoring an outdoor adventurer.
