Virtual Run Roundup

Even without big races on the calendar, there are plenty of virtual events to participate in, so you don’t put all that training to waste. While there are virtual race options everywhere, when you run a virtual race locally with a local sponsoring group, race funds will support businesses and organizations in the Roanoke Region. (That’s a run you can feel good about!)

Friendship Outpace COVID-19

May 27-June 2

The Friendship Outpace COVID-19 Virtual Run/Walk to help is a week-long virtual event in honor of National Senior Health & Fitness Day!
There are 3 ways to participate in Outpace COVID-19:

  1. Run or walk 19 miles in the week of May 27-June 2. You can run/walk these miles every day (2.7 miles a day), take a few days to do it, OR if you are really crazy, do it all on one day!
  2. Run or walk 1.9 miles in the week of May 27-June 2. If you live or work at Friendship, we’ve created some maps you can use to make sure you’re reaching 1.9 miles!
  3. Take 19 “steps” to help overcome the challenges of COVID-19. This could be making 19 calls to check on family and friends, sewing 19 face masks for essential workers and residents, writing 19 notes to those you love, etc.

My Big Run Roanoke

June 3

There are a few changes to The Big Run that we have known and loved for the past four years, resulting in My Big Run for 2020.  Entry is only $10, and $8 from your entry will be donated directly to Project Forward when you select Roanoke as your home store.

This is the only yearly fundraiser for Project Forward, so please help us support this amazing non-profit started by the owners of Fleet Feet Roanoke, Blaine and Robin Lewis. Your support will help purchase shoes for needy feet in the Roanoke Valley.

Four on the 4th

July 4

Four on the 4th has become a 4th of July tradition among friends and family in the Roanoke Valley to kick off the holidays’ festivities. We invite you to help us break our record of participants (510 4-milers, and 99 kid fun runners!), and register for the virtual Four on the 4th.

Four on the 4th is one of the main annual fundraisers for the Boys & Girls Clubs of SWVA, and they rely on the financial support from this race to provide summer camps and after school programs for disadvantaged youth in Roanoke City, Franklin County, and Montgomery County. In 2019, we had a record number of participants and were able to raise over $30,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of SWVA.
