Stay Motivated with the Roanoke Socially Distant Stage Race

virtual bike race

With so many events canceled this spring and into the early summer, it might be tough to stay motivated. Roa-Stoked has an answer with the Roanoke Socially Distant Stage Race in May.

The virtual bike race is six stages of cycling: 2 road, two mountain bike, and 2 gravel. Registration is free (but if you can, please make a donation to the Roanoke Valley United Way Covid-19 Community Response Fund) and runs May 2 through 25.

Here’s everything you need to know about the event that you can do alone or with a partner.

  • You can participate solo or as a two-person team (ridging three stages each alone).
  • Each stage has a Strava segment. You must complete the ride and make it public to count. You have to do it alone and submit the results to event organizers within 24 hours of completion.
  • Results will be updated every few days with winners at the ends of the event. Awards will be given for the best times plus a few fun categories (such as best food picture and best selfie).
