Roanoke Outside Loves Live Music [Ticket Giveaway]

One thing that we know for certain, the outdoors and live music go hand in hand. That’s why we are partnering with 5 Points Music Sanctuary with ticket giveaways to help you experience the Roanoke Region music scene.

The music venue is located inside a former church on Maple Avenue in Roanoke. The building features a 2,000 square foot performance hall with a capacity of just over 250 and features amazing sound for truly intimate concert experiences. The lower level includes a co-working space dedicated to music teaching studios, creative suites, and a 1,000 square foot rehearsal stage available for band rehearsals, classes, and various community uses. The venue operates as a non-profit.

Here’s how the owners describe it: “We celebrate sound, we embrace it, and we explore it. While our live events and concerts unite audiences from far and wide, they also serve as a platform to promote and support our music therapy and hearing loss advocacy efforts. Our goal is to remind people that the power of sound is more than what we hear. It’s also about what we feel … what we see … and what we share together.”

• Rebirth Brass Band on Oct. 4: Formed in 1983 by the Frazier brothers, the band has evolved from playing the streets of the French Quarter to playing festivals and stages all over the world. While committed to upholding the tradition of brass bands, they have also extended themselves into the realms of funk and hip-hop to create their signature sound.
• Pink Talking Fish on Oct. 14: Hybrid Tribute Fusion Act that takes the music from three of the world’s most beloved bands – Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish –  and creates a special treat for fans of the music. Although the music from each act is different, Pink Talking Fish has discovered that fusing the material together creates an amazing story.
• Dharma Bombs with Chupacabras on Oct. 25: Virginia is for Music Lovers when Dharma Bombs join forces with Chupacabras for a night of our fair state’s finest talent. Dharma Bombs formed in the heart of the Commonwealth with the intention of spreading Appalachian music with a heaping side of Dixieland. Chupacabras dig deep with a cocktail of boogie, funkadelic and surf sounds with thick horns and explosive percussion to get ya movin’!
• Freekbass & the Bump Assembly on Oct. 31: Virtuoso bass player FREEKBASS has been hailed by the legendary Bootsy Collins as The new spiritual warrior of the funk. Hailing from Cincinnati, FREEKBASS and his group, The Bump Assembly, are deeply rooted in funk. Known for his energetic live show and ignited low-end, FREEKBASS brings danceable tunes with hints of Prince, David Bowie, Talking Heads, and P-Funk.
