Pete’s Pick: Home for the Holidays

For me, the holidays are about a lot more than gifts. (Although that’s a lot of fun – see our gift guide here).

The holidays are about sharing time with friends and family.

Go for a run together and enjoy the holiday lights – RunAbout Sports is hosting a holiday lights tour for runners and walkers on Dec. 12 in Grandin Village. (It’s free and an amazing way to see all the lights. Come alone and make new friends or bring the kids.)

Or maybe grabbing a beer for a movie in an ugly sweater is more of your thing.

Just take time to make new memories this season. Slow down for a minute and enjoy life.

And while those friends and family are in town for the holidays, make a point to show off all the great things the Roanoke Region has to offer. (You’ve been trying to get them to move a little closer, right?)

Get2KnowNoke, the Roanoke Regional Partnership’s brand for talent attraction, has a cool series happening online and on Instagram all month. Home for the Holidays features so many fun things to do. You can get a taste here, but you’ll really want to follow on Instagram to get a better look at the story.

And we’d love to know what you are doing this holiday season as well. What does home for the holidays mean to you? Share your stories with us and Get2KnowNoke on social media. Tag us and use #Get2KnowNoke and #RoanokeOutside.

There’s no better way to highlight all the great things in the Roanoke Region than to show them in photos and video. Happy holidays!
