Pete’s Pick: Fish with a TU Member

trout unlimited

Want to learn to fly fish? The Roanoke Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited has a new program – Fish with a TU Member – and you are invited to participate.

Here’s how it works:

  • First, you have to like Roanoke Valley Trout Unlimited on Facebook. That’s where you’ll find fly fishing opportunities.
  • Then, keep your eyes peeled. TU members will be posting on Facebook where and when they will be fishing locally in the Roanoke Valley, and they will be inviting those that wish to learn how to fly fish to come out and join them. The time period for these posts could be several days away from the date of the fishing trip up to the day before the date of the fishing trip; it is up to the member that is planning the trip. You must be a Virginia licensed fisherman to participate.

Trout Unlimited has a mission to conserve, protect, and restore North America’s coldwater fisheries and their watersheds. The Roanoke Valley chapter participates in a number of group events – including weekly Fly Tying Sessions at Ballast Point Brewing as well as other conservation and fishing events, such as Project Healing Waters and Trout in the Classroom. Membership is open to adults, teens and youth.
