Memorial Stair Climb + Deschutes & Ladders

Climb for a good cause.

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8 at Wells Fargo Tower in downtown Roanoke.

The event is a way to honor and remember the FDNY firefighters, police, and EMS who gave their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Each participant pays tribute to an FDNY firefighter, police officer, or EMS by climbing the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. National Stair Climbs take place all over the country.

Get ready to climb with the RunAbout Sports team in preparation for the event.

A free workout series – Deschutes & Ladders – is each Wednesday evening at Elmwood Park beginning this week and continuing through Sept. 12. The workout starts at 6:30 and will include plenty of stair climbs at the park as well as activities in nearby parking garages and on some surrounding hills.

It’s a great way for walkers and runners to get ready for some serious climbing. After the workout, participants are invited to the Deschutes Tasting Room for tasty brews. (Workouts are free, but participants pay for their beverages.)
