The James River begins its journey in Botetourt County, winding through the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountains on its way to the Chesapeake Bay. The unspoiled beauty of the river is more accessible than ever through the Upper James River Water Trail. Paddlers, anglers and families can get back to nature and enjoy the sights and sounds of 45 miles of the Upper James, including 14 pristine miles designated as a Virginia Scenic River.
Be as adventurous as you wish — tour the vineyard, follow nature paths, and picnic — or lounge in the barn and inhale the beautiful vista as you sip one of Blue Ridge Vineyard’s signature wines.
Blue Ridge is the proud holder of three 2011 Virginia Governor’s Cup medals and five gold medals from Virginia Wine Lover Magazine.
Blue Ridge Vineyard is located in Eagle Rock, VA, which is a short and beautiful drive (less than 45 minutes) from Salem, Roanoke, Lexington, Buena Vista, Natural Bridge, Vinton, Fincastle, Buchanan, and just about anywhere in between. Take the afternoon off and come see why people come for the music, stay for the view, and return for the wine.

Nestled in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, Fincastle Vineyard & Winery produces wines using traditional Bordeaux small scale techniques. From the vines of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay come wines pressed gently and aged in oak.
The winery opened in 2003 with a special emphasis on quality and according to the Virginia Wine Guide “Fincastle’s 2001 reds are beautifully handcrafted blockbuster wines, dark, lush and intensely flavored.”
You can see the vineyard from the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 100. And the winery is pet-friendly. Fincastle Winery is part of the Wine Trail of Botetourt County.
The winery is open year round, Thursday though Monday.
Located in Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia at the foot of the Peaks of Otter, the winery of the same name features fruit of the farm wines.
Although Peaks of Otter grows many fruits for the wine, apples are the main crop. Apples, peaches, nectarines, plums, and pears are used to make wine, cider, and butters. These “grandma’s style” wines are excellent with snacks, as an after dinner wine or just sipping.
The winery is open daily from April through December and on weekends January through March.
