It’s Never Too Early to Start Training for Blue Ridge

blue ridge marathon training

We are just four months away from the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon. Spring might seem a far off, but America’s Toughest Road Races demand dedicated training.

Two training programs kick off soon and provide the accountability and network you need to cross the finish line.

The Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon offers a variety of race distances – double marathon, full, marathon relay, half marathon, 10k, and 1-miler. The races are April 18 and start and finish in downtown Roanoke.  See why Runner’s World recently called Blue Ridge one of the “hardest races in the world.”

Virtual Training Program

Schedule runs and training on your schedule with a virtual training program that’s designed for the Blue Ridge. All virtual training comes with a custom plan with modification options for beginner, intermediate, and advanced runners. There is also a modification for “flat-landers” or people who plan to run on a treadmill.

The training program includes a private Facebook group for community support, weekly Facebook live Q&A with the race director and other trainers, a weekly newsletter with custom topics, instructional videos on technique and race planning skills, plus a race weekend meet-up and photo.

Fleet Feet Training Programs

If you live locally and need the accountability of an in-person training program Fleet Feet is kicking off its trio of Blue Ridge Training programs in early January.

Plus, Fleet Feet is donating 50% of the registration fees from all three training programs to the Roanoke Outside Foundation. (You’ll have something to feel great about during some of those tough training runs.)

  • The 14-week Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon training program kicks off on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 5:15 p.m. at Fleet Feet. Registration is open.
