It’s Ice Skating Season

Did you know there are three locations where you can ice skate this winter?

  • Elmwood on Ice features outdoor skating (and a cool ice slide) and is open Wednesdays through Sundays
  • The Berglund Center has open skate sessions, beginning Dec. 15 through March
  • Lancerlot Sports Complex has public skate and drop-in hockey daily all winter

If you’ve never been on the ice before, this guide to learning is easy to understand. (It starts with having a willingness to learn.)

Each of the locations in the Roanoke Region that offer ice skating also have skate rentals (so you don’t need your own to try). Just make sure to dress warm and in clothes that you can move around in.

Just make sure to set your expectations for your level of skating. (You won’t be doing double axels after one outing.)

Want more formal training? The Lancerlot in Vinton also offers learn to skate classes for kids and adults.
