Improve McAfee and Get an Iconic Shirt

The Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club is raising funds to help the Appalachian Trail Conservancy purchase a property that is adjacent to the McAfee Knob trailhead parking lot, and they need your help. Purchase a McAfee Knob shirt (short sleeve, long sleeve, etc.) that you can wear proudly, knowing you’re helping improve access to our great outdoors.

Shirt sales end August 22.

A little more on the project: The landowner is an A.T. supporter but has received multiple inquiries from developers. The ATC needs to raise $200,000 to purchase this 7-acre parcel of land which will allow the National Park Service to consider a wide variety of improvements including bathrooms.

Beginning in fall 2024, VDOT will begin construction on a pedestrian bridge across Rt. 311, which will reduce the number of available parking spots by approximately 40% during construction (set to last 12-18 months). This makes acquiring these 7 acres even more critical.
