Grab Your Costumes for the Spooky Sprint 5K

Halloween doesn’t have to be scary.

Grab your favorite costume – spooky or kooky – and join the Spooky Sprint 5K on Saturday, Oct. 28.

The race, which is open to all ages, benefits the West End Center for Youth.

The 5K run and walk starts and finishes at Wasena Park and includes a costume contest, after party and awards ceremony for all participants. Start time is 9:30 a.m.

The out and back course begins near the Wasena Park Picnic Shelter and follows the Roanoke River Greenway. Volunteers will hand out water at the turn around point.

Last year, participants dressed up as The Swedish Chef (two of them), a Tyrannosaurus rex (hilarious to see in full sprint), bananas (a bunch), Wonder Woman (and several other superheroes), The Grim Reaper (very tall, very scary), pirates, and many more.

The after party is at the Wasena Park Picnic Shelter with FREE food from Village Grill and beer from Ballast Point Brewing, compliments of Ry Hubbard of Morgan Stanley. Nonalcoholic drinks will also be provided. Awards for the male and female winners of each age group will be given out as well.

Register online or on site the day of the event. And don’t forget to dress in your favorite costume!
