Business Announcement Aligns with Regional Outdoor Narrative

traditional medicinalsWhen is the outdoors more than just going for a hike or paddle? Answer: When it helps locate a new business to the region.

Traditional Medicinals, the leading seller of organic herbal wellness tea in the U.S., announced Tuesday that it will build a manufacturing and process operation in the Roanoke Region, a $29.7 million investment that will create 56 jobs.

Announcements like this are why the Roanoke Regional Partnership created Roanoke Outside. The symbiosis between business and investment and our outdoor community narrative couldn’t be more clear.

“It was incredibly important that we found a location that embodied our company values,” said Blair Kellison, Traditional Medicinals CEO. “We’ve worked for decades to ensure that the work we do positively impacts both the environment and the people in the communities where we do business – both on a local level and in the forty-two countries where we purchase herbs. We are proud to become a part of Franklin County and the greater Roanoke community and look forward to making a positive social business impact here.”

While Traditional Medicinals doesn’t make outdoor gear, the culture of the brand and its employees align with the Roanoke Region’s commitment to an active, healthy, outdoor lifestyle. Their products, which include a line of 50 herbal teas such as Throat Coat and Cup of Sunshine, is popular among outdoor enthusiasts as well.

Traditional Medicinals found a place that they wanted to be thanks to the Roanoke Region’s business advantages and outdoor culture.

That’s just one of the ways Roanoke Outside is working to make the Roanoke Region THE place to be.
