Art by Bike

zagster

Have you noticed anything special on Zagster bike baskets lately?

The art baskets are a program of RIDE Solutions, the Arts Commission, and Roanoke City Libraries. Students at Raleigh Court and Main Branch encouraged to let their imaginations run wild and decorated blank baskets. By riding these bikes, you are helping spread the art created by these young people throughout the Roanoke Region.

The popularity of the Zagster bike-sharing program has also been incredible. The program started off with 10 stations and 50 bikes in 2017 and is now up to 14 stations and 64 bikes from Salem to Vinton. Compared to similar-sized Zagster systems across the U.S., Roanoke is No. 2 in terms of participation rates.

The newest Zagster stations in Salem are launching on July 19.
