What’s a shotski?

It’s a ski with tiny glasses attached so you can sample craft beer with friends! You can find it – and plenty of tasty beverages – at the Deschutes Street Pub in Roanoke on Saturday.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Street Pub:

  • The first kegs will be tapped at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, and last call happens at 10 p.m.
  • Each beer costs 1 token. Buy tokens on site for $5 each. (Skip the line and buy them now!)
  • The Street Pub is free and is a giant, family-friendly one-stop shop for beer tastings.
  • Deschutes Brewery will have more than 50 taps with plenty of brews to taste, including favorites and special taps.
  • There will be culinary creations from Deschutes Executive Chef Jeff Usinowicz and a couple of local chefs.
  • Local bands will keep the tunes pumping all day.

This year the Deschutes Street Pub will benefit the following area non-profits:

  • Blue Ridge Land Conservancy, which promotes the conservation of western Virginia’s natural resources — farms, forests, waterways, and rural landscapes
  • Bradley Free Clinic, which provides free compassionate and high quality medical, dental, pharmaceutical, and preventive health care services for Roanoke Valley residents who lack the resources necessary to maintain their health and productivity, using volunteer health care professionals
  • Pathfinders for Greenways, which provides a forum for involvement of volunteers, coordination of work days, greenway promotional events, and fundraising and been particularly effective in building and maintaining natural surface trails
  • Roanoke Outside Foundation, with a mission to make outdoor activity and environmental stewardship a core component of our community’s lifestyle by promoting a “conservation through recreation” philosophy

In 2016, the Street Pub broke records in Roanoke with 22,000 people in attendance and 241 kegs of beer poured in one day. The event also raised $81,000 for local nonprofits.
