Roanoke Mountain Campground
Looking for a place to camp close to Roanoke? Visit the Roanoke Mountain Campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Located off the Mill Mountain Spur of the Blue Ridge Parkway – from Roanoke, head up to Mill Mountain and continue past the turn to the Star and Zoo. The campground will be on your right after about one mile (map it).

The campground is open May 1-October 31 each year and offers car camping, walk-in tent camping, and small RV hook ups.

The great thing about the Roanoke Mountain Campground is that it provides great access to the Chestnut Ridge Trail, the trails at Explore Park, the Star Trail, and Mill Mountain Park trails. You can even stop by the Mill Mountain Zoo.
**Every Sunday (end of May - end of August) bring your lawn chair and enjoy an hour of local music (7-8pm). With a differnt group performing each week, there will be a variety of old-time, bluegrass, country ballads, Celtic and more throughout the season. All performances are free of charge. Picnic fair is permitted, but alcohol is not.
