Roanoke Street Pub Scheduled for July 14

Deschutes Street Pub Roanoke

The Street Pub is back in Roanoke again this summer.

Deschutes Brewery announced this week that Bend, Oregon, and Roanoke will be the destinations for its 2018 Street Pub, a community celebration and local fundraiser.

Roanoke Street Pub will take place from 2-10 p.m., Saturday, July 14, at Elmwood Park. Non-profit recipients include Roanoke Outside Foundation, Bradley Free Clinic, The Spot on Kirk, and Roanoke Parks and Recreation. Event co-sponsors are Blue Ridge Beverage and Hydro Flask. This year marks Street Pub’s third year in Roanoke.

“In Roanoke, Street Pub continues to be a fantastic way for the community to get to know our beer and our culture outside of our downtown Tasting Room,” said Michael LaLonde, Deschutes Brewery president and CEO. “I think the community has learned we throw one heck of a party, and this year will be a special celebration as we close our land purchase and move forward with plans to build in our new east coast home.”

Street Pub is a 186-foot-long, outdoor pop-up bar that literally pops up overnight. Deschutes Brewery staff members then serve up a massive party for the community and the pub disappears before the next morning. Hallmarks of the family-friendly Street Pub include live music, cooking demonstrations from the brewery’s own executive chefs, live music, family-friendly fun, and of course, pour after pour of Deschutes Brewery’s beer.

A portion of Street Pub proceeds are always donated to local non-profits. In 2017, the brewery passed the $1 million mark for total funding that Street Pub has raised for non-profits across the country in its four years of operation. That total includes $148,500 in Roanoke.

“After successful runs in cities across the country, this year we are focusing Street Pub on two of our three home markets,” LaLonde said. “It’s always been an important part of our company values to celebrate the communities where we operate and to help build them up through non-profit donations. This year we are focusing this event on our devoted fans in Bend and Roanoke.”

The Bend event is June 30.
