Roanoke River Gorge

Super Class II float just minutes from downtown Roanoke.  One of just three Blue Ridge water gaps in Virginia.  Two fun play waves for goofing off.  Great fishing opportunities when the stripers and white bass run out of Smith Mountain Lake in the spring months.

Beginning at the Blue Ridge Parkway just downstream of Niagara Dam, this four mile run features a couple small play waves, riffles, and some of the best fishing in the area when the spring runs out of Smith Mountain Lake commence.

The river begins with its most difficult rapids (Hotel Roanoke) within site of the bridge.  The best water level is between 3-5 feet on the Roanoke River USGS gauge.
