Pete’s Pick: Volunteer on Race Weekend

There’s still time to be a part of Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon race weekend … without any training!

Sign up to volunteer during the race or at the Down by Downtown music festival.

There are still some pretty big volunteer needs for marathon preparation and during the race on April 22.

Race-related jobs include:

  • Course marshals: Marshals are stationed along the entire length of the course to keep runners safe and on course. They direct runner traffic and cheer runners enthusiastically.
  • Green team: Volunteers will assist in sorting, gathering, and recycling materials used during the race.
  • Breakdown Friday: Break down the Expo on Friday, April 21 at the City Market Building in Downtown Roanoke. You will be packing up extra shirts, runner packets, etc. to be delivered to Elmwood Park for race day.
  • Breakdown Saturday: These volunteers are responsible for breaking down elements of the course and helping to pack up all associated equipment.
