Pete’s Pick: Oysters, Bikes, & Beer

Are you down with OBB?

This weekend is all about three things: oysters, bikes, and beer. Usher in spring and support your local breweries and trails at two unique events going down in the Roanoke Region.

The first is on Saturday, March 28 when Parkway Brewing Company will host its Second Annual Oyster Roast at their Salem brewery. From 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Bruno’s Gastro Truck and Rappahannock River Oysters will team up to bring you oysters and other fare.

There will also be live music from Blue Mule, Tara Mills Music, and The Hackensaw Boys. Free parking just up the road from the brewery, so you can stroll down on the greenway or grab a free shuttle.

Then, on Sunday, March 29, head over to Soaring Ridge Craft Brewers to catch the Bluegrass, Bikes, and Beer Tour featuring Travis Book. Book is most known as the bass player in the newgrass group The Infamous Stringdusters, but is also an accomplished solo artist. Travis will be doing a solo show at 4:00 p.m.

Not only that, he is an avid mountain biker and racer and will be leading a group ride from Soaring Ridge at noon the same day. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Roanoke Chapter of the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA).

You could not ask for two cooler events happening this weekend at our local craft breweries, and this is just another example of how the outdoors and craft beer go hand in hand, and help each other.

So get out, enjoy some oysters, bikes, and beer this weekend!
