Pete’s Pick: Give the Trails a Break

It’s shaping up to be a nice weekend and I have no doubt you’re itching to get out and hit the trails.

But don’t do it.

After the recent snow and rain the trails need a break. They are soft and mushy right now and just one set of footsteps or one set of bike tires rolling through the mud will do a lot of damage and it will take countless volunteer hours to repair the trails.

That’s right. They won’t fix themselves. Volunteers will have to spend time fixing the damage you do this weekend rather than concentrating on building new trails. Think about it: Where would you prefer those efforts be spent?

Do everyone a favor: Use the greenways instead. Just for a week or two so the ground can dry out. (A new route might do you good anyway!)

By the way, we have a pretty cool new mountain biking video on the homepage. Make sure to check it out.
