Pete’s Pick: Get Some Naturetherapy

You know getting outdoors does your body good. There’s nothing like a great hike or afternoon bike ride to get your heart pumping. But did you know the outdoors is great for your mental state as well?

I came across Michael W. Pirrone’s “What Hiking Does to the Brain is Pretty Amazing” and can’t get his ideas out of my head. He’s really on to something that I’m calling naturetherapy – and it’s not just for hikers. You get the same benefits from anything outside.

  • Nature really does clear your head
  • Unplugging makes you more creative
  • Boost your focus
  • Charge your mind’s batteries
  • Feel better about yourself from your sweaty head down to your muddy boots

Here’s your prescription: Get outside! It doesn’t matter what you do, just go breathe in some fresh air (and leave your phone behind). And if you aren’t sure what to do once you walk out the door, you are in the right place – create your hike, bike, or paddling adventure now.

Make it a great weekend … outside!
