Pete’s Pick: Gallop for Greenways

gallop-partyYou love the greenways, right?

Support them this weekend by running in Gallop 4 the Greenways or if you don’t want to run, come out for the post-race party and raise a glass to our urban trail system.

Greenways are an important part of our community, providing recreational opportunities, commuter routes, and promote the preservation of natural areas.

The race and kids fun run Saturday is an annual fundraiser to support the growing network of pedestrian and bike trails throughout the region. The course is along the Roanoke River Greenway and will start and finish near River’s Edge. The start time is 5 p.m. and will conclude with a post-race party featuring live music, great food, and plenty of adult and kid-friendly beverages.

Proceeds from the event go to Pathfinders for Greenways, a non-profit organization dedicated to building and maintaining area trails.

Make it a great weekend … outside!
