Pete’s Pick: Come Out to the Crit

roanoke music

Bike Month is winding down in a major way this weekend with the inaugural Virginia’s Blue Ridge Downtown Twilight Criterium and Night Rider’s Ball.

It’s a pair of events that I’ve been looking forward to for months and will be nothing short of a wonderful afternoon and evening of fast-paced fun on Saturday.

It starts with the crit, a professional bike race, and two events that you’ll be competing in – an adult big wheel race or beer mile (on foot). Then there’s the main event. The main event has been compared to NASCAR on bikes and is a great time to watch; because racers are moving so fast, you’ll always be close to the action.

The evening finishes with plenty of live music – indoors and out – at the Night Rider’s Ball at Martin’s Downtown. The band lineup is stellar, and if you took part in the Clean Commute Challenge this month – I rode my bike to work, did you? – or arrive on bike, admission is free. (Otherwise it is $15.)

The musical lineup includes DJ Logic, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, Sol Roots, and DJ Williams Projekt. Hope to see you there!

Make it a great weekend … outside!
