Mill Mountain Park Trails (sampling)

The Mill Mountain Park trail system offers incredible mountain biking and hiking options within 5 minutes of downtown Roanoke. The trails encompass the summit of Mill Mountain and the Roanoke Star. This area offers 500 acres of parkland atop mill Mountain, picnic areas, overlooks that provide 20-60 mile vistas, access to additional hiking trails, the Mill Mountain Zoo and the Mill Mountain Discovery Center.

Directions to Mill Mountain Park:

  • Take I-581 to Elm Ave./Rt. 24 (Exit 6)
  • Turn onto Elm Ave./Rt. 24 (toward downtown)
  • Turn left onto Frankin Rd. (just past hospital on left)
  • Follow Franklin Rd. for 1/4 mile and turn left at light onto Walnut S.
  • Follow Walnut St. up mountain
  • As you approach the top turn left toward Mill Mountain Star, Zoo, and Discovery Center
