Mayflower Hills Hosts First Disc Golf Tournament

There’s a brand new disc golf course at Explore Park and you can toss your first disc at the Mountain Mayhem at Mayflower Hills tournament on May 12.

The tournament also doubles as the grand opening of the course, which was a joint effort in planning, build, and design between Roanoke County and the Roanoke Disc Golf Club.

The only 18-hole course in Roanoke is on Rutrough Road about 10 minutes from downtown. This course is the perfect mixture of all terrain types, with water in play as well. The course plays in and out of woods with holes in the open (there’s even a hole that ends in a bamboo forest).

Every hole provides another element, designed to excite and test players of all skill levels. Each hole has three tees and multiple pin positions. The course has compacted gravel T-Pads and is well maintained, with bridges, well-defined walking paths, and amenities.

The tournament on May 12 is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and includes a $500 cash pro payout, players pack to all amateur players, $2 optional ace pool, and a field that’s limited to 72 players.
