Look at the Appalachian Trail Through Photos

See images from a year of hikes along the Appalachian Trail taken by the hikers themselves on display at the Alexander/Heath Contemporary Gallery.

The Appalachian Thru-Hiker Convo exhibit is open to the public June 5-6. The gallery features nearly 1,000 images that were taken along the trail by thru-hikers last year. Many of those hikers will be present.

Hikers submitted their images to the gallery for consideration for this exhibit. The gallery also selected 45 images to produce as postcards that will be on sale. Proceeds from the event will go to AT-related organizations, the gallery and photographers for each item sold.

The event is also open to current hikers — thru or section — to converse with alumni and stay the night in the gallery. The gallery is providing transportation to hikers to and from the McAfee Knob Trail Head both days and to Troutville Trail Days on Saturday.
