Jackson River Scenic Trail Marathon Is Around the Corner

It’s not too late to squeeze in a summer race.

The Jackson River Scenic Trail Marathon is coming up on June 24 in the Alleghany Highlands. The race offers a breathtaking course with plenty of shade to help you beat the heat.

Race options include something for runners (and walkers) of all abilities with a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, and 1-mile fun run.

Plus, the Jackson River Scenic Trail Marathon has been certified as a Boston Marathon qualifier this year. (It would me a great place to BQ.)

With a trailhead located just minutes from downtown Covington, the Jackson River Scenic Trail has a surface of finely crushed gravel and is well-suited for runners. The trail is built on an old railroad bed that runs mostly parallel to the Jackson River with mountain views along the course.

Awards will be given to the top 3 overall male and female finishers and top three finishers in each age group will receive an award. Age groups are determined by participation. The awards ceremony will be at Intervale Trail Head immediately after the race. Refreshments will be provided for all race participants.

Strollers are allowed in the 1-miler and 5K and will start in the back at the start line.

Registration is available online and on site before the event. You need to register by June 9 to ensure getting a race shirt.
