#GivingTuesday is Coming

Black Friday. Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday.

Hopefully that last one resonates with you. #GivingTuesday is Nov. 29 and is the kick-off to the end of year charitable giving season. For Roanoke Outside, it is a springboard for donations and one of the few times of year we directly ask for your help.

Please consider making a donation to the Roanoke Outside Foundation this year. Your tax-deductible contribution will help us continue to make Roanoke an awesome place for outdoor recreation.

Some of the things donations to the Roanoke Outside Foundation helped with in 2016 include:

  • Building a kayak launch on the Roanoke River
  • Keeping the Roanoke GO Outside Festival free
  • Bringing professional bicycle racing back via Virginia’s Blue Ridge Downtown Twilight Criterium
  • Getting Roanoke named Top Adventure Town … again
  • Creating Trail Drinks, a quarterly gathering of the outdoor community
  • Keeping RoanokeOutside.com up and running (and packed with information)
  • Sharing proceeds from our events with other local nonprofits that help develop our outdoor culture and infrastructure
  • Consulting with local outdoor entrepreneurs, businesses, and parks and recreation departments
  • Assisting with the implementation of Explore Park’s master plan
  • Growing the Blue Ridge Marathon, Radical Reels Film Festival, and GO Outside Festival
  • Advocating for more outdoor amenities across the region
  • And if you need one more reason: Deschutes Brewery officials specifically cited the outdoors as a factor that helped them select Roanoke for its East Coast headquarters

Last year, more than 45,000 organizations in 71 countries came together to celebrate #GivingTuesday. Since 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities.
