With more than 4,000 feet of elevation, the Rotor Meltdown at Carvins Cove is a sure challenge for mountain bikers.
The Oct. 13 Rotor Meltdown is “not for sissies mountain biking,” according to the race website. Registration is open and those who sign up by Saturday save $10 and are guaranteed a race t-shirt in the proper size. The long course (31 miles) is $30 and the short course (14 miles) is $25 with early registration.
The 31 mile race at Carvins Cove features 4,400 feet of climbs and the short course, at 14.25 miles, has 1,800 feet of climbs.
Both courses include a few big climbs and will use parts of the Green Ridge Loop (which crosses private property and is not open for rides before race day).
There are categories for men and women and different age groups and water stops are offered along the long course.
