You can help Roanoke Kids in the Valley, Adventuring earn $5,000 to buy camping supplies with just a few clicks.
Join the KIVA Good Maker campaign and cast your vote through Aug. 3. The top idea of the 115 in the campaign will earn the grant, so every vote counts. (KIVA is currently in the top 25.)
If awarded, KIVA would use the grant to help buy camping supplies that families in need could borrow for overnight hikes. The group plans to create a checkout system for gear and the grant would also help purchase a set of teaching materials for outings.
KIVA, started in 2008 by Chip and Ashley Donahue, is a free nature club for families in the Roanoke Valley. The group invites families to join up at parks and trails and encourages families to learn Leave No Trace principles on overnight hikes.
The next hike is coming up Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fishburn Park. You can keep up with all of group’s upcoming events on their website or Twitter.
