Fleet Feet Named a Top 50 Running Store

best running store roanokeFleet Feet Sports on was named of one of the top 50 running stores in the U.S. by Competitor Magazine. It is one of two stores in Virginia to earn honors.

“It is a great honor for our store, Fleet Feet Sports, to be recognized as a Top 50 Running Store in America,” said Blaine Lewis, co-owner of the Roanoke store. “We have a great team that works very hard to deliver an outstanding experience for our guests and community. I also feel this is a great recognition for Roanoke and shows how we have grown as an outdoor and active lifestyle community.”

Competitor partners with Running Insight, a trade publication, to compile the ranking from reader nominations, mystery shopping visits, credit ratings from vendors, and assessments of community programs and commitment. “The best stores in the country are the ones that are focused more on spreading the joy and passion of running than they are on selling running shoes, apparel and accessories,” according to the magazine.

Fleet Feet Sports has a retail location on Franklin Road and partners in various running events throughout the community from serving as a packet pick-up location to hosting pub runs and group training.

Here’s a look at some of Fleet Feet’s upcoming programs:

  • Ton of Fun Challenge: 8-week weight loss challenge with weekly meetings and goals. Cost is $40 and participants can earn that $40 back in Fleet Feet Bucks. The first session is Dec. 31.
  • No Boundaries Path to 5K Walking & Running Program: 12-week program for walkers, runners and interval runners to train for the RVSPCA Tail Chaser 5K. Three workouts a week led by mentors, training plan, and more! Cost is $100 and training starts Jan. 2.
  • RUN-540 10K & Half Marathon Training: 14-week program for runners and interval runners to train for the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Half Marathon and Anthem Star 10K. Two workouts a week led by mentors, training plan, and more! Cost is $125 and training starts Jan. 16.
