The River Rock is hosting a weekend of competitive climbing starting with USA Climbing Collegiate and Youth competitions and finishing with a non-sanctioned event for everyone with the Big Lick Showdown.

The Big Lick Showdown Citizen’s Bouldering Competition is for anyone 14 years old and older who would like to compete in a fun, local, non-sanctioned bouldering competition. After the competition stick around for the after party, where the River Rock will be raffling off a whole bunch of swag from event sponsors.

The showdown is Sunday, Nov. 12, with registration starting at 12:30 p.m. The after party begins at 5 p.m.

Competitors will compete in a redpoint format – on-sight ascent will earn you the most points with depreciating point values earned for subsequent attempts. Climbing classes include men and women recreational (VB-V1), intermediate (V2-V3), advanced (V4-V5), and open (V6+). Each competitor will receive one raffle ticket with registration. First, second, and third place winners in each climbing class will receive extra raffle tickets.

You can also see some pretty awesome climbing this weekend if you aren’t ready to compete yourself. The climbing gym is hosting the USA Climbing Collegiate Competition on Friday, Nov. 10 and the USA Climbing Bouldering Youth Competition on Saturday, Nov. 11.

The Big Lick Showdown is open to anyone who wants to climb. You can register online or on the day of the event. (River Rock members get discounted registration.)
