Friday Night Lights-Moonlight Madness

Event image Time: 9:00 PM - 11:59 PM Location: Montvale Park 12K Trail Run and/or 25K Mountain Bike Race:

Darkness, the absence of visible light, has had to endure the stigma of being uninviting, eerie and at times evil. This July Mountain Junkies will dispel those antiquated notions and prove once and for all it is FUN to play in the dark!

Friday Night Lights-Moonlight Madness has everything a trail junkie could want with a 25K mountain bike race starting at 9:00 p.m. followed by a 12K trail running race starting at 11:59 p.m. on the highly acclaimed trails of Montvale Park in lovely Montvale, Va.

If you have ever raced in Montvale before, either for the Montvale 5&10 milers or the Throwdown in Tanktown, forget everything you know about the race course…the darkness by itself would make it totally different but when you turn it around and add a never before raced on trail, you are in for a totally different experience.

Oh, by the way, there’ll be a full moon on race weekend but you better bring your lights too…the only way to completely break the darkness is to add Friday Nights.

The Gamut at Carvins Cove with Virginia Endurance Series

Event image Time: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Location: Meeting Location: Bennett Springs Parking Lot at Carvins Cove (18+, 10+ with an adult) Roanoke is the "2013 Best Trail Town" and the singletrack at Carvin's Cove is a big reason why. With the sweet trail offerings continuing to expand, riding "The Gamut" at Carvins Cove (every trail in the extensive singletrack system in a single day) has become quite a challenge: 40+ miles with LOTS of climbing. The absolutely incredible trails, and the corresponding high most mountain bikers experience while riding them, keeps the accomplishment of riding "The Gamut" seemingly within reach (though very few have people have actually done it). Join other mountain bikers to attempt this feat and lay claim to conquering “The Gamut.”
FREE
The deadline to register online is July 24th. Participants can register the day of the event.
