Bikes, Beer and a Bunch of Fun

Don’t have plans for the weekend yet? The solution includes cyclists, a beer mile, and an afternoon of fun on Sunday at Fallon Park. The GO Cross Cyclocross Race and Beer Mile are true spectator sports, especially if you are fond of heckling.

Registration is still open for both events, but you don’t need to participate to enjoy the fun:

There will be plenty of food from the Fork in the Road food truck and a beer garden (featuring Deschutes Brewery) on site as well.

GO Cross race takes place at one of Virginia’s only year-round cyclocross courses and will challenge every level of rider with punchy climbs, huge sand pits, barriers, grass, mud, pavement, dirt, and two run-ups.

Not familiar with cyclocross? The bike race typically happens on a short course with plenty of different terrain types. Riders have to hop off the bike, carry it across obstacles, remount, and keep racing. The race is part of the VACX series.

The first cyclocross races will start at 9 a.m. on Sunday and conclude with the pro men’s race at 2:30. The beer mile is slated for 4 p.m.
