Bike Month Event: Night Rider’s Ball

Bike Month is winding down with one of the biggest events of the year – the Night Rider’s Ball.

The event is presented by RIDE Solutions and starts at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 20 at Martin’s Downtown. There will be four bands to jam to (three on the outdoor stage) and plenty of food and beverages.

Admission is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Ride your bike and there’s no cover charge; plus there will be a bike valet to take care of parking.

The main act is Particle at 10 p.m. But the music starts early with Nice Couch at 6 p.m., The Lee Boys at 8 p.m. and Disco Risque inside Martin’s at midnight.

There are plenty of two- (and three- and four-) wheeled activities as well with the PLAY Roanoke Adult Big Wheel Relay and the Roanoke Skatepark Initiative Mini Grind Park.

Here’s what you need to know about the relay: Teams of 3 will race around a downtown course. The first team to complete six laps will be crowned winner and Big Wheel Champ! There will be three heats at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. with races lasting about 30 minutes and teams need to register in advance. (But it will also be a blast to watch with riders decked out in costumes for the event.)
